The technique

What is myofascial release?

A gentle form of stretching and balancing which has a profound effect upon the body tissues.

Fascia can tighten after injury, overuse or long hours in one position. Myofascial release uses slow, sustained pressure and gentle stretching, often with little or no oil, waiting for tissue to soften rather than forcing it.

Myofascial release works on fascia, the connective tissue that wraps around muscles. Instead of quick strokes, Abbagayl uses slow, sustained pressure and gentle stretching, waiting for the tissue to soften before moving on to the next area.

Clients book myofascial release when they feel stiff, restricted, or tight in a way that regular massage does not quite reach, such as a stiff neck, tight hips, or a back that feels locked up after long days. The pace is unhurried and the pressure stays within your comfort.

Myofascial release is done at your home in Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, Scottsdale or Phoenix, so you can rest afterward without a drive. It pairs well with trigger point massage or cupping in the same session at no extra charge.

Sessions run 60, 90 or 120 minutes at $150 an hour, with 30% off your first visit. Abbagayl is a licensed massage therapist in Arizona (license MT-28809), and you can confirm any therapist's license through the Arizona State Board of Massage Therapy.

Questions

Myofascial Release FAQ

More answers on the services page, or read Mobility & Movement on the blog.

How is myofascial release different from deep tissue?

Deep tissue uses firmer, moving pressure on muscle. Myofascial release uses slower, sustained pressure focused on the connective tissue around it.

Does it hurt?

It is usually gentle. You may feel a deep stretch, and pressure always follows your feedback.
