What is nerve compression therapy?

Nerves travel through tight spaces between muscles, tendons and bone. When the soft tissue around a nerve gets tight or irritated, it can press on that nerve and cause numbness, tingling, weakness or pain that seems to travel into the arm, hand, leg or foot.

Nerve compression therapy is a focused massage session for the muscles and soft tissue along those pathways. In April 2026 Abbagayl completed a 12-hour live continuing education course in nerve compression syndromes with Advanced Massage Arts & Education, an NCBTMB Approved Provider in Tempe, and she uses those techniques to work carefully around common compression points in the neck, shoulder, chest, forearm, wrist, hip and lower leg.

Sessions are slower and more targeted than a general massage. Abbagayl checks in often, keeps pressure within your comfort, and balances focused work with stretching and broader massage so the whole area can relax. Nerve compression therapy can be booked in 60, 90 or 120 minutes at your home in Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, Scottsdale or Phoenix.

This service complements medical care rather than replacing it. If you have new, severe or worsening numbness, weakness or loss of coordination, see your doctor first, and share any diagnosis or guidance with Abbagayl so your nerve compression therapy session can be planned around it.

Sessions run 60, 90 or 120 minutes at $150 an hour, with 30% off your first visit. Abbagayl is a licensed massage therapist in Arizona (license MT-28809), and you can confirm any therapist's license through the Arizona State Board of Massage Therapy.

  • Gentle, precise pressure

Areas near nerves are worked slowly and with less pressure than a knot. Speak up right away if anything feels sharp, electric or worse.

  • Whole-area release

Focused work is balanced with broader massage and stretching for the muscles around each compression point.

Questions

Nerve Compression Therapy FAQ

More answers on the services page, or read Chronic Pain on the blog.

What does nerve compression feel like?

Common signs are numbness, tingling, pins and needles, weakness or pain that travels along an arm or leg. Only a medical provider can diagnose the cause, but massage can help ease tension in the surrounding muscles.

Is it the same as deep tissue massage?

No. Deep tissue focuses on firm pressure in large muscle groups. Nerve compression therapy uses targeted, often lighter techniques along specific nerve pathways, which is why Abbagayl offers it as its own service.

Can I add hot stones or cupping?

Yes. Every complimentary add-on can be selected when you book, at no extra charge, as long as it is appropriate for your session.
